Sadhana In The City is a traditionally taught Mysore Style Program in the heart of New York City’s iconic Flatiron District. The program is led by Michael Guiou, a Level 2 Authorized teacher by KPJAYI, in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. The practice space has large windows, beautiful hard wood floors, high ceilings and mat storage space. Showers, lockers, a water station, and included mat rental make our space a perfect practice destination whether you are a resident or visiting ashtangi. We are easily accessible by public transportation. We are happy to welcome you to our focused and joyful practice group.
Traveling ashtangis and practitioners seeking a new home are welcome to show up unannounced.

Starting A Practice
The Ashtanga system of yoga is special in that it teaches you a practice you can do anywhere, with or without a teacher. Each student builds a relationship with their teacher over time, crafting a practice that is individual from a tried and true sequence of postures and breathing techniques. Beginning a practice can seem daunting at the best of times - it’s a very real commitment on the student’s end.
Use our special 2 Week Unlimited Intro for newcomers to the ashtanga practice. Please make a commitment to practice at least three times per week to begin your ashtanga journey. It is only over a period of time that you will see how the practice progresses and grows, so we do not offer drop ins for first timers. On your first day you’ll be given a private lesson within the group setting, you can ask any questions you have, and we’ll build from there. Please arrive between 7 - 8:45am on your first day and expect to be in the studio for about an hour. If you would like more information, feel free to contact Michael.
